San Diego Electricians Encourage Residents to Have an Electrical Safety Inspection

The Electrical Contractors Association of San Diego (ECASD) is encouraging residents and commercial property owners to have an electrical safety inspection. In their latest blog post, the group of local contractors mentioned the many safety hazards that could occur when electrical issues are left unaddressed. They say the only way to know if there are ongoing electrical troubles is by having an electrical safety inspection.

ECASD President Brad Harper says some homeowners are probably not aware of this type of maintenance care for their home. “What happens is they will just call for an electrician once something untoward occurs. Of course, we do not want accidents or property damage to occur before they address possible issues. We are just alarmed with the growing number of repairs and emergency calls attributed to issues that are entirely preventable if only the property owner took time to have a maintenance inspection check,” Harper explains.

The Benefits of an Electrical Inspection in San Diego

According to the Electrical Contractors Association of San Diego, there are several advantages of having an electrical inspection. They rounded up all these benefits in the aforementioned post which they published on their official website and social media platforms.

Here are the advantages they enumerated:

1. Prevents electrical fires. The number one benefit of having an electrical inspection is the prevention of electrical fires. When electrical systems are problematic, electrical fires can spark. A thorough maintenance check can help determine whether there are existing issues that need repair.

2. Prevents electrical injuries, and even electrocution. When the electrical fixtures and systems are in optimal working condition chances of sustaining electrical injuries are drastically reduced.

3. Prevents damage to appliances and other electronic devices. Since electrical safety inspections help curb problems with wirings and the whole electrical systems, fluctuations, overloading, and short circuits are avoided. These three are the leading cause of appliance damage, especially for electrical devices that consume a significant amount of power.

4. Helps keep electrical bills from skyrocketing. Sometimes, faulty electrical wiring can lead to electric leakages. These electrical leaks can cause utility bills to soar.

5. It makes for a better home when the property owner decides to resell it.

What to Expect During an Electrical Inspection in San Diego

The ECASD then mentioned what residents and property owners can expect during a professional electrical inspection in San Diego. Upon getting in touch with a licensed electrician contractor, the electrician will then inspect all the electrical systems, fixtures, and components within the house.

He will then provide a detailed report of all the electrical systems he has evaluated, highlighting the areas that need immediate attention. The electrician will explain the repercussions of shrugging off these concern areas. The contractor would then proceed to provide a list of the fixtures that would need upgrading,

Keeping San Diego Homes Adherent to Electrical Codes

Harper said the main objective of an electrical inspection is to keep a home adherent to the National Electrical Code or NEC. The NEC provides a national guideline that provides the minimum safety requirements across all properties and electrical components such as appliances in the United States.
